NPP seeks God’s favour ahead of Supreme Court judgment

Supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti region are seeking divine intervention ahead of the judgment on the election petition, which is expected to be given in August.

According to Luv FM's Erastus Asare Donkor, the supporters have been praying fervently for God’s favour.

He said expectations are high in the NPP stronghold, and supporters believe a ruling in favour of the party will be fair and just.

During a wreath-laying ceremony to mark the first anniversary of the late President John Atta Mills last week, NPP regional chairman Frederick Freduah prayed for Mills' spirits to visit the judges hearing the case and embolden them to rule with courage and wisdom.

He noted that Mills' wish for a peaceful Ghana will not materialize if the court's ruling results in violence.

Erastus said some parents still hope for the implementation of free Senior High School (SHS) education as promised by the party's flagbearer. Only a judgment in favour of the NPP, these parents believe, will ensure this sees the light of day.
