NPP should get rid of Afari-Gyan, others to win 2016 - Kuranchie

The Managing Editor of the Daily Searchlight, Ken Kuranchie, says the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should give a deadline to the Electoral Commissioner and his deputy to resign from the post.

According to him, so far as the Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan and Mr. Sulley Amadu, Deputy Electoral Commission Chairman, remain in office; the NPP is bound to lose the 2016 general elections.

Making his submissions on Oman FM, Ken Kuranchie called on the rank and file of the opposition party to get rid of certain ‘individuals’ within the Commission if only they want to fight a good fight to clinch victory, come 2016.

“First and foremost, one of the things that we need to do and get it done fast, is to make sure that certain individuals are not at the Electoral Commission. Is to make sure we have some concessions on who becomes the next Electoral Commissioner; is to make sure that the field becomes as free and as fair and as transparent as possible.

“As a political party, we need to confront that issue before the end of this year and make sure we make some progress on that front.”

He revealed that a section of the workers at the Electoral Commission owe their allegiance to the ruling National Democratic Congress.
