Bolgatanga, July 28, GNA - New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters in the Upper East Region have been called upon to vote overwhelmingly for both the Presidential and Parliamentary Candidates of the Party. Mr Isaac Atasige, an NPP activist, made the statement when he met Party supporters from some constituencies in the Upper East Region to help resolve some internal challenges facing them. He appealed to them not to allow their interests or the influence by some unscrupulous individuals to supersede the ultimate goal of the NPP, which is to win the forthcoming elections convincingly. He said there was the need for the NPP to win more parliamentary seats to enable the Government continue with its good policies and programmes for Ghanaians.
Mr Atasige indicated that the time for pointing accusing fingers at one another was over, adding that each member of the NPP should work assiduously towards total victory of the Party. He entreated Party members, especially the campaign team to strengthen its machinery to reach the knocks and cracks of the Region. He noted that the NPP Government had laid a strong economic foundation and has won international repute which needs to be consolidated to enhance the living standard of the people. He urged Ghanaians to critically look at NPP's achievements and vote massively for the Party to continue with the good works. He said NPP had plans to empower northern farmers to shift from subsistence to mechanized farming through the construction of new dams as well as rehabilitating existing ones to facilitate dry season farming in the area.
Mr Atasige dismissed reports that the NPP was collecting Voters' cards in order to give loans to owners. "There is no way this year's election could be rigged since all the parties are poised to show vigilance and would have equal representatives to monitor the process." Mr. Atasige entreated Ghanaians who had reached the voting age to go out in their numbers and register when the voters' register is reopened from July 31 to enable them exercise their franchise.
