Scores of members of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have massed up at the Nima residence of their flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, to protect him from what they fear could be planned attacks against him by supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The horde of NPP supporters flooded Mr Akufo-Addo’s residence following clashes between the security detail of the three-time flag bearer and some supporters of the NDC who had earlier massed up in front of Mr Akufo-Addo’s residence to wait for their colleagues as they embarked on a walk through the streets of Nima.
Gunshots were heard during the brawl between supporters of the two parties.
Officers from the Nima Police Command, however, intervened to calm nerves.
