An elder of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has predicted 180 seats for the opposition party in Parliament in the 2016 elections.

Dr. Kwame Amoako Tuffour said all the promises by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have not been fulfilled and the people of Ghana will be motivated by this and vote for the NPP.

The NPP elder was reacting to the Majority Leader in Parliament, Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin, who predicted a 57 percent of valid votes for National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming elections and 184 seats in Parliament.

“We will get between 160 and 180 out of the 275 seats in Parliament because the NDC government has failed in all the promises they gave to Ghanaians”, Dr. Amoako Tuffour told Onua FM’s Yen Sempa hosted by Bright Asempa Monday. He said “the NHIS, School Feeding, Capitation and other social interventions have all collapsed”.

Advice to suspended members

He therefore advised those who have been suspended from the party to show goodwill to the party. Dr. Amoako Tuffour is therefore imploring all the suspended members to even borrow and do T-shirts, posters and banners for the flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a show of remorse.

“If you have been suspended and you are still in the party, show goodwill to the party. Borrow to do posters and banners for him”, Dr. Amoako Tuffour added.

Dr. Amoako Tuffour said “go to campaigns. Do something for the party and that will show you have shown remorse because all those who were suspended were based on discipline and not hatred”.

He also noted, “all those he (Akufo-Addo) contested with are part of him and the few that are not coming have their own agenda”. “We have not sacked or dismissed anyone. We have just disciplined them and we give them chance to talk and contribute to the party,” he added.
