Sekondi, 13 Sept, GNA - Papa Owusu Ankomah, Attorney General and Minister of Justice, said the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) was instituting effective reforms to fight corruption. He said, consequently, the Government was strengthening the capacity of anti-corruption bodies and entrench good governance. Papa Ankomah was speaking in a media encounter after the launch of the Sekondi Constituency keep-fit club of the NPP at Sekondi on Sunday. He said despite media reports of corruption at high places, it was prudent for thorough investigations to be conducted into the allegations before suspects could be prosecuted.
Papa Ankomah who is also the Member of Parliament for Sekondi said it was important for the Government "to try and seal all the leakages" to discourage officials from indulging in financial malpractices. On whether the law of Causing Financial Loss to the State, should remain in the statute books, Papa Ankomah said it was not a priority consideration for the time being. He said government would reconsider the law if re-elected.
