NPP to defend strong economy

WA, Jan. 9, GNA - Mr Yaw Osafo-Maafo, Member of Parliament for Akim-Oda, has said the New Patriotic Party government had laid the foundation for a strong and viable economy and would not leave it for anybody to come and destroy.

He said all the presidential aspirants who lost to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the recent congress were offering him their fullest support to ensure that the party wins the next general elections to continue with its good work.

Mr Osafo-Maafo said this at a rally at Wa when he accompanied the NPP presidential candidate to the Upper West Region to thank the delegates and party supporters for electing him.

He said he was representing all the 16 loosing aspirants and asked supporters to replicate the unity in the aspirants' front by rallying behind Nana Akufo-Addo to ensure that the party retains power. He said there was a perception in certain quarters that the NPP would break up after the Legon congress but this had not happened and that this was an indication that unity was the hallmark of the party. Mr Osafo-Maafo urged the regional and constituency executives of the party in the region to work harder to make sure that they deliver six of the 10 parliamentary seats to the party in the next elections.
