The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to interact with former Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Cynthia Morrison, after she decided to run as an independent candidate for the Agona West seat in the December 7, 2024 parliamentary election.

The General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong emphasised the need for unity in the party as it strives to retain power and break the usual two-term limit.in government for the parties.
The current member of parliament for Agona West, Cynthia Morrison, announced her independent candidacy following her defeat in the NPP parliamentary primaries.

Speaking to her constituents, she declared, “God willing, I will be contesting the parliamentary election as an independent candidate. It is not about the NDC, and it is not about the NPP. It is about the development of Agona.”
Morrison urged her followers to support her independent candidacy and reiterated her commitment to Agona West's advancement in spite of the initial setback.

Kodua Frimpong in an interview on Thursday, August 22, 2024 emphasized the NPP's emphasis on unity and its attempts to reunite all members, including those who are thinking about running for office independently, a report by citinewsroom.com said.

“As a political party, for this year’s election which has been our mantra, we are going to break the eight. In breaking the eight means we need to do exceptional things and bring everybody on board. Our objective is to make sure that all our party faithful are brought on board.

“So, taking steps that will make sure that at least we engage those who are going independent is something that we are going to do rather than whether to write them a letter or not to write them a letter. What we want to do is to bring everybody on board…the party leadership will continue to engage her,” Kodua stated.
