Kenyasi (Ash), Aug 5, GNA - Mr Sampson Kwaku Boafo, Ashanti Regional Minister, has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would welcome the National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters who would defect to the NPP because they are impressed and appreciate the good work of the Government. He said "You should not consider it a shame or a disgrace to defect to the NPP because you think the Government has performed creditably within its three-and-a-half years in office".
Mr Boafo made the invitation to the NDC defectors at a durbar of chiefs and people of Kenyasi in the Kwabre District of Ashanti on Tuesday as part of his visit to the area. He said the NPP deserved a second term of office to enable it to continue with it excellent performance. Mr Boafo assured the people that the Government would rehabilitate roads in the area next year and appealed to the people to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme. He called on the traditional authorities and the district assembly collaborate efforts to facilitate the construction of a market for the town.
At Aboaso, Mr Boafo asked the people in the Muslim community not to allow unscrupulous self-seeking politicians to manipulate them instead they should help to sustain the peace currently prevailing in the country. "People who desire peace, love and unity must be encouraged and not those who want to create confusion and anarchy in the society". Mr Boafo inaugurated a block of three classrooms, office and store built from the HIPC Fund at the cost of 240 million cedis at Wadie-Adwumakase and an incinerator constructed by the District Assembly at Ahwiaa.
