The Minister for Food and Agriculture Alhaji Mohammed Muniru-Limuna, has revealed exclusively to ultimatefmonline.com, that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is training 37 mercenaries at a secret location to foment trouble at the December 7 polls.
He further stated that they have identified the location of camp where the said training is ongoing but refused to give further details alleging that it is a grand scheme by the opposition party to rig the elections which is far from their reach.
“They have put some thugs somewhere and training them to cause confusion. We are aware; I will not tell you the location for security reasons. We have information and we are tracking them. We control the security apparatus and aware the kind of training they are doing”, the former REGSEC Chairman revealed .
According to him, the NPP smells an imminent defeat and therefore will want to resort to violence in order to smoothen its way to victory but warned that there is no way the party can ride onto power using the back door.
Alhaji Limuna who is also the Northern Regional Campaign Coordinator of the NDC, believes the training of the 37 mercenaries might have informed the announcement by NPP Regional Chairman Daniel Bugri Naabu that they will police the elections using thugs.
“Because they know they cannot win the elections they want to use the thugs to cause confusion because 2016 elections is difficult to steal. If they know they can win the elections why are they crying foul”, he asked.
At the campaign launch earlier this month, the outspoken NPP Regional Chairman Bugri Naabu was quoted as telling his supporters to look out for thieves from the ruling NDC.
“Members of Kukurudu, my brothers and sisters greetings to you all for the massive turnout; this means that the election is won already but what I have to tell you is that you know the NDC, they know how to steal.
They stole in 2008 and snatched it from us in 2012. So I beg you my elders what I have for the youth is that this year’s election if care is not taken they will steal again.”
“So on December 7, get some young and strong men about 40 to guard the box and if the thieves come to snatch away the boxes break their legs. You were witnesses to the Supreme Court ruling; would you allow them to steal again?
“If they steal again we are dead so this one is do-or-die. Don’t agree! If they are not afraid of guns and cutlass we are also not afraid,” he said.
