Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, will be officially announced as the running mate of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, today, Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

This decision, formally endorsed by the NPP's National Council on July 5, has received widespread support from top party officials, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who has expressed confidence in the Bawumia-NAPO ticket's ability to secure victory in the 2024 general elections.

In a statement, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Bawumia for selecting him as his running mate, pledging his commitment to collaborate effectively for the party's success in the upcoming elections.

The NPP has actively defended NAPO against criticisms of perceived arrogance, with some stakeholders suggesting he use prepared scripts for future public appearances to manage his messaging better.

Additionally, the NPP has opened nominations for the Manhyia South constituency following Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh's new role, leaving the parliamentary seat vacant.
