The Ashanti Regional Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Kwame Zu has stated that he is struggling to wrap his head around the purpose of New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) delegates’ conference held in Cape Coast of the Central Region.

According to him, NPP members only gathered to party about their 2016 elections victory.

Speaking on Ultimate Breakfast Show hosted by Lantam Papanko, he said the agenda of the gathering was defeated and that NPP members used the miniature rally to echo promises made to the grassroots.

According to him, Ghanaians have lost trust in the Akufo-Addo’s government after reposing confidence in them to change the fortunes of the country.

‘…I choose to be charitable and very considerate, I am yet to establish very much so, the overriding purpose of the NPP’s gathering in Cape Coast. Aside from the gathering of party members, to as it were to enjoy the spot of victory, that is the euphemism for partying, I am yet to establish primarily, the purpose of gathering in Cape Coast.

‘Why? We were told that gathering would afford delegates the opportunity to amend some portions of their Constitution. And apparently, the National Council and Executive Council will have that opportunity to debate the motion for considerations and adoption….The rally was a miniature rally to re-promise promises made to the grassroots during the campaign, just to launch a different campaign again,’ he said.

Mr Zu indicated that the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo forgot that the misconduct of his appointees will have an effect on his presidency.

‘…The misconduct of his appointees is key to his ability to succeed as President or not,’ he stated.

The Ashanti Regional Secretary of NDC which said the Akufo-Addo’s government has received the fastest diminishing goodwill as compared to successive governments.

He indicated that the government has been embarking on deceitful promises.

‘…The only statistical certainty in the 4th Republic is this government which has had the fastest diminishing goodwill among the populace. The number of myriad of issues that have bedevilled the government is uncountable…This is the first government in the 4th Republic that has had the fastest diminishing goodwill,’ he pointed out.
