President John Mahama has described the defeat of the Republicans in the US elections as a good omen for the NDC and an indication that a similar thing will be replicated in Ghana in the upcoming polls.
According to the President, anytime the Democrat Party wins an election in the US, the NDC also wins in Ghana, citing the 2008 elections to back his claims.
The President made the remarks on Saturday in Tongo when he resumed his campaign tour of the Upper East region after a 3 day suspension to attend to the victims of the Melcom disaster in Accra.
“The elephant in America was chased into the bush and that is significant because its cousin lives here in Ghana. In 2008 when the American elephant was chased into the bush we also chased that elephant into the bush.
“In 2012 that American elephant has been chased into the bush again so I know on 7th December, its cousin here is going back into the bush” President Mahama said.
For his part the chief of Tongo Sabahud Nabat commended the president and the NDC for what he described as the numerous developmental project in the area.
