Rebecca Akufo-Addo, wife of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party is optimistic women will live better lives under an NPP administration.

On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Mrs. Akufo-Addo said the main opposition has a track record of social interventions which gave priority to women and the family during the Kufuor administration, and will intensify that if her husband comes to power.

“We ought to do better and I promise you that under Nana Akufo Addo and the NPP we will do better, We introduced the school feeding programme to give our children nutritious food to support their growth and learning to improve their status. We also introduced the NHIS and free maternal care as a means to improve the health of our women and children. We have started the process of affirmative action to include more female voices in decision making. We will follow this process through. We have done it before and we will do even better if you give us the chance,” Mrs Akufo-Addo said in a statement.

She added: “As mothers our greatest wish is to see our children healthy, happy and able to succeed in life as adults. This means we need to improve access to quality education for all, not just a few who can afford quality. Quality education for all means more to the NPP than any party. It is top of our agenda. By the Grace of God we will do all it takes to realize this agenda.”

Fellow Ghanaians,

My name is Rebecca Akufo Addo, wife of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, the Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party.

Mother’s Day celebrates the essence of motherhood. It is a day that celebrates the resilience, compassion, nurturing, selflessness of mothers and mother figures. It is a day that we recall the sacrifices each generation of mothers make to ensure the well-being of the next generation.

On this day, I salute all women and particularly Ghanaian women for being the glue that holds the family together. Mothers are so important to society that, we must do everything to promote their well-being. We cannot have a society where maternal deaths are on the high side. We cannot have a society where infant mortality is unusually high. We cannot have a society that neglects women and children and excludes women from critical decision making.

We ought to do better and I promise you that under Nana Akufo Addo and the NPP we will do better, We introduced the school feeding programme to give our children nutritious food to support their growth and learning to improve their status. We also introduced the NHIS and free maternal care as a means to improve the health of our women and children. We have started the process of affirmative action to include more female voices in decision making. We will follow this process through. We have done it before and we will do even better if you give us the chance.

As mothers our greatest wish is to see our children healthy, happy and able to succeed in life as adults. This means we need to improve access to quality education for all, not just a few who can afford quality. Quality education for all means more to the NPP than any party. It is top of our agenda. By the Grace of God we will do all it takes to realize this agenda.

On this Mother’s day I deliver a message of hope; hope for the future of our women; hope for our children; and indeed hope for all Ghanaians. I hope you will join me – and the millions of Ghanaians who truly believe in a better Ghana and understand it is not just a slogan but a binding commitment, to vote for change. Help Nana Akufo-Addo provide a better future for our women, children and our nation Ghana

Happy Mother’s Day.

I thank you for your kind attention.

May God bless you and your family.

And may God continue to bless our homeland Ghana.
