NYUPED slams Ken Kuranchie

Executive Director of the Northern Youth for Peace and Development (NYUPED), Prince Hardi Adams has taken a swipe at the Editor in Chief of the Daily Searchlight Newspaper, Ken Kuranchie for accusing President John Mahama of not regionally balancing his appointments.

Contributing to Citi Fm’s News Analysis programme, the Big Issue, Ken Kuranchie admonished President Mahama to make his appointments in line with the constitutional provision which calls for regional balance.

He advanced his argument by stating that seven out of the first fifteen appointees including Hon. Inusah Fuseini, Hon. Mahama Ayariga and Alhaji Collins Dauda were of northern origin.

But in an interview, Prince Hardi Adams disagreed with Ken Kuranchie and said President Mahama should rather be applauded.

“It is rather unfortunate that Mr. Ken Kuranchie is making this comment at this time and I don’t think there is anything wrong with the appointments made so far.”

He noted that there were early days yet for people to start criticizing President Mahama and asked the critics to support the appointees to function effectively.

Prince Hardi described the President’s decision as a step in the right direction which could bridge the development disparities between northern and southern Ghana.

He was however quick to n advise President Mahama to pay no attention to former government appointees with questionable behavior.

The Northern Youth for Peace and Development (NYUPED) has over the years criticized the Mills-Mahama led NDC administration over what appeared to be government’s failure to fulfill its campaign promises especially in northern Ghana.

The downtrodden implementation of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) and other pro-pro poor government policies that were fashioned out to alleviate the plight of the suffering masses in northern Ghana necessitated NYUPED’s pressure on government to fulfill its campaign promises.
