The National Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) Prof. Edmund Delle has challenged the Former President Jerry .J.Rawlings to produce evidence of persons within Nkrumahists who are criminals.
Prof.Delle charged the former president to name and shame the criminals who are hovering around the corners of Ghana freely than just coming up with accusations that do not hold water.
The former head of state popularly known as ‘Dr. Boom or Papa J’ in his recent statement accused Nkrumahists as criminals.
Speaking on Ultimate breakfast show hosted by Lantam Papanko, he challenged him (J.J) to back his allegations with facts and figures than describing all Nkrumahists as criminals.
‘I thought that as a former head of state if he says that some of the Nkrumahists are criminals, he should name and shame them, before you can discuss somebody as a criminal you must have evidence. He should have gone to court and bring evidence, but to say these things just put it on Nkrumahists. I think that it’s a little bit unfair to Nkrumahists, it isn’t every Nkrumahists who is a criminal, he should point out those who were sent to court and proven to be criminals, then he could be justified, but just to tell the whole world that Nkrumahists are criminals I don’t think it’s fair.
If he says that we are not living the ideals of Nkrumah, I will understand. If he has justifications he should let us know, he should make sure that he is clear about what he is saying, …there should be evidence that they were brought before a court and gone through the process and found to be criminals, then I could take it, without that evidence, I don’t think I will agree with that,’ he stated.
A livid National Chairman of CPP explained that it is wrong for the former head of state to describe all Nkrumahists as criminals, saying no criminal activity has been reported to him.
‘Even if it does not go by laws, I don’t think it’s right to call somebody a criminal, we have disciplinary committees within Nkrumahists parties,…as far as I am concerned I don’t have any evidence now to confirm what the former president is saying. To use that on all Nkrumahists I think it’s unfair.
Under my leadership am very clear about this, if anything happens we bring the person before the disciplinary committee, we will name and shame the people, I haven’t had any report that we have gone through and found somebody to be a criminal, at least not in my current CPP,’ he refuted claims.
