Nana Addo doesn't believe God is the Kingmaker - Capt. Sowu

A senior member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), retired Captain Joel Sowu has urged the NPP Flagbearer to concede defeat and withdraw the matter from the Supreme Court.

The retired Soldier wonders why Nana Akufo Addo, who benefited from a graceful concession by Alan Kyeremanten, his arch rival in the NPP’s leadership race ahead of the 2012 elections is not doing same.

Captain Sowu says Nana Akufo Addo’s actions after the election suggest he does not believe in God as the final King maker in every contest.

Capt. Sowu indicated that the NPP should let the matter be while concentrating on future elections.

In a related development, son of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Sekou Nkrumah says Nana Akufo Addo might lose miserably even if the Supreme Court overturns the results of the December elections.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer is in court challenging the validity of the elections.

Though Dr. Nkrumah does not have a problem with the NPP’s decision to go to court, he maintains the posture of the leadership is creating disaffection among its sympathisers.

“Even if, for example, we stretch the argument and the Supreme Court [ruling] favours the NPP and it’s not like they declared him the winner but points out that it has to be rerun, you would be surprised that he might lose miserably,” he said.

Dr. Nkrumah said like him, many people would not be interested in voting if the election is to be rerun because they feel they have been put through stress and a lot of anxiety.
