Nana Addo should ignore mischief against Ashaiman MCE – Tema Mantse

President Akufo-Addo President Akufo-Addo

The Industrial City King, Dr Nii Adjei Kraku ll, has stated that people who are claiming, Mr Albert Okyere the Ashaiman Municipal Chief Executive is sabotaging President Akufo-Addo’s ‘1 district, 1 Factory’ programme in Ashaiman were mischief-makers.

Consequently, he has advised that President Akufo-Addo should ignore those alleging that land for a 1d1f project has been sold by the MCE.

“I watched the news on Television and I was shocked that people have such propensity to make such unfounded statements to the effect that the MCE is selling a piece of land that has been earmarked for one district, one factory; how can the MCE sell lands when I, the King, I am here? Nii Tema wondered.

He said the land in question was under the custodianship of the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) and the Tema Traditional Council and could never have been sold by the MCE to any private developer as is being alleged.

“If the land has been given out to a private developer, then most certainly it is the TDC that has given it out and not the MCE. Why would anybody, therefore, ask for the MCE’s head?” the Tema Mantse queried.

The allegation only recently emerged on television. According to the allegation, a piece of land that was earmarked for a factory project under 1d1f was given out by the MCE to a private developer.

However, the MCE does not have any jurisdiction over the land in question as that parcel is under the custodianship of the TDC and the TTC, the only authorities that can exercise the choice to give it out to a private developer or not.

In spite of the facts on the ground, the MCE’s accusers alleged that Mr Albert Okyere is deliberately sabotaging the 1d1f project in Ashaiman, an allegation that could easily court disaffection for him.

“I will advise the President, in my capacity as the King of Tema – he should please ignore the allegations because there is no iota of truth in it. Nobody in Tema can sell land without any knowledge.

“And as for those creating mischief in Ashaiman, I want to warn them that there are elders in this city and it is not everybody who likes political mischief. If the MCE were to sabotage any attempt to deprive Ashaiman of a factory, I would be the first to report him to the President,” Nii Tema said.
