Accra, March 23, GNA - Nana Akufo-Addo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, left Accra on Monday for New York at the invitation of the President of the UN Security Council.
A statement issued by the Ministry said the minister would be participating in an opening debate on cross cutting problems in West Africa scheduled for Thursday, March 25.
The statement said the Minister was invited in his capacity as the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Mediation and Security Council.
He was accompanied by Mr Leslie Kojo Christian, Supervising Director, Political and Economic, and Miss Akua Sekyiwaa Ahenkora, Assistant Director responsible for ECOWAS matters, both of the Ministry. The delegation would be joined in New York by the ECOWAS Executive Secretary, Dr Mohamed Ibn Chambas, and the Foreign Ministers of Sierra Leone, Cote D'Ivoire and Liberia.
