Nana Akufo-Addo campaigns in Volta region

Ho,(Volta Region) 12, Oct '98 Nana Akufo-Addo, an aspiring presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to tackle the issue of development of the Volta Region with the urgency it deserves "because the region is strategic to the country."

Nana Akufo-Addo was speaking at a meeting with NPP constituency executives from Ho East, Ho West and Ho Central constituencies at Ho, October 9.

He said an NPP government under his leadership will prove that it regards the Volta Region equally as important as any other region. "Wait till you see, who actually owns the 'world bank' ", Nana Akufo-Addo, Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa said, in reference to the massive block voting for the NDC in the Volta Region. He called on the Volta region delegates to the party's congress to give him their mandate to prove his commitment to the development of the region.

Nana Akufo-Addo, who is making his second campaign tour of the region said he has mapped out strategies for effective grassroots campaign in, especially, areas considered as strongholds of the NDC. Miss Christine Churcher, MP for Cape Coast was optimistic that Nana Akufo-Addo is better poised to lead the party to victory in the 2000 elections.

Nana Akufo-Addo was accompanied by Mr Yaw Baning-Darko MP Atiwa, Mr A.K. Koranchie, MP for Asante Akim South and Brigadier Nunoo-Mensah (rtd) former chief of defence staff.
