Accra, March 14, GNA - Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Minister of Foreign Affairs leaves Accra on Monday night as a member of a three-man African Union (AU) delegation to present Africa's position on the proposed United Nations (UN) reforms to Mr Kofi Anan, UN Secretary General in New York.
Other members of the delegation are Professor Alpha Oumar Konare, Chairman of the AU Commission and Mr Olujemi Adeniji, Chairman of the AU Executive Council.
A statement issued in Accra and signed by Mr Michael Ofori-Atta, Public Relations Officer at the Ministry said the AU Executive Council unanimously adopted the recommendations of the AU Ministerial Committee at its 7th Extraordinary Session in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from March 7-8 this year.
It said the AU Ministerial Committee of 15 was tasked by the AU Executive Council at its meeting in Abuja, Nigeria in January 2005 to come up with an African position on the proposed UN reforms.
The statement said Nana Akufo-Addo after the presentation would proceed to Stockholm, Sweden to participate in the 8th Session of the International Contact Group on the Mano River Union. He is expected back on Wednesday March 23.
