Nana Konadu has embarrassed Rawlings – Ephson

Pollster Ben Ephson has described as embarrassing, the former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings’ decision to turn down a request by her husband to rejoin the NDC.

Former President Rawlings had asked the NDC leadership to invite his wife to return to the party after breaking away in 2012 to form the National Democratic Party.

Leading members of the NDC, including the majority leader in Parliament Alban Bagbin and newly elected National Organiser of the party Kofi Adams welcomed the suggestion.

But Mrs. Rawlings has in a media interview with TV3 turned down the invitation from her husband.

“Even if I find it interesting I will not escort my husband there… The conviction I had in going to some other place is still there and still relevant,” the former vice chairperson of the NDC told Accra-based TV 3.

Speaking to Starr News in an interview, Ephson said Mrs. Rawlings’ reaction is an embarrassment to the former military ruler.

"Mrs. Rawlings’ decision that she would not return is embarrassing to the Husband and Kofi Adams.

“Did NDC sack her? She is an adult; she is over 60, she decided to walk away from the party that her husband founded...she went away, and the party won the election”.
