Nana Konadu on thank you tour" of Greater Accra

Accra, Sept 11, GNA-Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, the defeated National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential candidate, at the weekend continued her thank you" tour of the Greater Accra.

Addressing Party members clad in NDC colours at the Nima Cluster of Schools, Nana Konadu said the tour was to thank 93all who prayed, supported and encouraged" her before and during the Sunyani Congress, which she lost to President John Atta Mills.

The former first lady said the word of God said in everything you do you should give thanks', hence the need to embark on the tour to show appreciation for the sacrifices made for her before the Sunyani Congress.

Nana Konadu noted that she took this initiative out of share decency and refuted allegation that she would form a new party adding, she would continue to stress on the truth, thus putting the right structures in the party.

The former first lady said she believed in human development and would continue to support grass root participation since they constitute the power for governance.

Nana Konadu noted that every organization is guided by values and principles, therefore for the NDC party to move forward, there was the need to observe these values for better development.

She started the tour at her home region of Ashanti where she vehemently denied allegations that she was demanding five ministerial positions and an amount of money before she will campaign for the party in the 2012 General elections.

She then proceeded to the Brong Ahafo Region with the assurance to visit all the ten regions to complete her thank you tour.

Mr Kofi Adams, the spokesperson for the Rawlingses, said "reports" indicate that 85 per cent of leaders worldwide do not know what is going at the grass root and admonished the ruling party to give the grass root members the needed attention.

He said the Rawlingses were able to move the party as a strong force and therefore believed in unity irrespective of race, religion, social status and education.

He urged party functionaries to be resolute and champion the positive and progressive cause of the party since that was crucial to the development of democracy.

Mr Adams noted that it was the desire of some members of the party to destroy the reputation of the founder of the party, which would be resisted.

He said once Nana Konadu will remain in politics, it is incumbent on her to acknowledge the support she has received from the rank and file.

Mr Adams appealed to the party members to register ahead of the elections adding, the team was enthused by the support the grass root supporters have shown in receiving the former first lady.

He said Nana Konadu would remain a member of the NDC to fight the lies and the injustice in the party.
