Nana Konadu wants to destroy Rawlings' legacy - FONKAR

A group calling itself the founding fathers of Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings (FONKAR) has descended heavily on former First lady, describing her as a “bitter and an overly ambitious woman” who is seeking to drag the ruling NDC government into opposition.

According to the group, Mrs. Konadu Agyeman Rawlings’ alleged support for the yet to be certified National Democratic Party (NDP) is a clear indication of her bitterness and vindictiveness towards the NDC.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, a leading member of FONKAR Dela Koffie noted that most of the original supporters of the group are disappointed by the destructive actions of Mrs. Rawlings.

He stated that after the Sunyani congress that endorsed the candidature of President Mills for the 2012 elections, Mrs. Rawlings has employed different tactics to destroy the NDC administration.

Mr. Koffie said “majority of us here have played major roles in Nana Konadu’s candidature and our support for her was based on the fact that she was interested in upholding the legacy that some of us believe in. However events after the Sunyani Congress have proven all of us wrong.

“Since then the rancor, bitterness and attrition against the very political party she helped found has become more aggressive than ever before. The issue of the NDC logo is one classic example of the attrition that we are talking about

“The formation of the NDP is just to set the stage to destroy the legacy that Rawlings fought for which we are also standing for. The NDP is not here for any electoral purpose but to disrupt but to disrupt the electoral fortunes of the NDC”.

But a close aide to Mrs. Rawlings, Mohammed Nazir says Dela Coffie who addressed the Press Conference must not be regarded as a serious person.

According to him, Dela Coffie is under pressure to satisfy his paymasters which he said has become an albatross on his neck.**
