Nana: Mahama Govt a 'disaster'

Nana Akufo-Addo - NPP flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo - NPP flagbearer

Nana Akufo-Addo has described the Mahama administration as a "disaster."

Addressing the New Patriotic Party's Extraordinary National Delegates' Conference in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region on Saturday December 19, 2015, the three-time flagbearer of Ghana's biggest opposition party said it was important for the Danquah-Busia-Dombo family to marshal forces to fight the incompetent and corrupt Mahama administration, rather than fight within its ranks.

According to Mr Akufo-Addo, President John Mahama is "relying on lies, outright fabrication, negative propaganda, and ethnicity" to win the 2016 elections in a bid to "continue to create, loot, and share" the resources of the state.

He said it is the party's duty to work tirelessly next year to lay bare before the Ghanaian people the level of corruption in the Mahama administration so as to vote his government out, "no matter the juicy inducements" they may be given.

In his estimation, Ghana has been left in a "sad state" and going "backwards" after 7 years of the Mahama administration at the helm of affairs.

He said Ghanaians should give the NPP a comeback chance in next year's elections since the party has the energy and talent to turn the fortunes of the country around. "Ghana has become a by-word for corruption," under President Mahama, adding: "Ghana deserves much better. Ghanaians are anxious for change."

He said the NPP is in a "solid shape," to do that. Mr Akufo-Addo said his travels around the country encouraged him to push on for victory in next year's elections since most citizens he interacted with were singing the same tune: "Ghanaians are looking up to the NPP to win the next elections decisively to generate prosperity for the broad masses of the people."
