The National Ambulance Service (NAS) has launched its 20th-anniversary celebration at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region, marking two decades of providing critical care and transport to those in dire medical need.

The anniversary, themed "Two Decades of Lifesaving Journey: Celebrating Resilience in Ghana's Pre-Hospital Emergency Care," aims to recognize and appreciate the contributions of staff, stakeholders, and industry players who have improved emergency medical services over the past 20 years.

In his opening speech, NAS Chief Executive Officer, Professor Ahmed Nuhu Zakaria, highlighted the significant progress made by the service, including a staff strength increase from 64 to 3,471 and an expansion from 7 to 207 offices across the country.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, NAS will embark on a series of activities, including a health walk, public education, games with stakeholders, health screening, and a climaxing dinner and awards night in November 2024.

Deputy Health Minister Adelaide Yaa Agyeiwaa Ntim commended NAS for their dedication and professionalism, noting the significant impact on Ghanaian society, including improved survival rates and bridging the gap between rural and urban healthcare.

She pledged the government's commitment to supporting NAS with state-of-the-art equipment to enhance their work.
