National ID Cards To Be In Use By June.

The coordinator of the national economic dialogue, Mr. Stephen Asamoah Boateng has disclosed that the national identification cards would be ready for use by the end of June this year.

He said the major difference between the voters’ ID card and the national id would be that the voters’ id cannot be acquired until the individual is 18 years and above. The national ID will capture particulars of the individual from birth.

The coordinator added that the national id would help the internal revenue service, SSNIT, the electoral commission and the ministry of economic planning in the data processing.

Mr. Asamoah Boateng was speaking at the 3rd quarter assessment meeting of the national economic dialogue.

Panellists at the meeting called on the customs excise and preventive service [CEPS] to publish monthly, the institutions and goods that have been exempted from import taxes. This they say would help in the monitoring and evaluation of tax exemptions and other tax matters.
