Ark Multimedia has launched the maiden edition of National Schools Debate solely for Senior High Schools at the British Council in Accra.

The company is using this medium to motivate students to stick to their books, broaden their horizon and acquire knowledge through the provision of solutions to problems affecting our societies.

Taking in to consideration of what the various schools needed to know ahead of the main debate, the organizers promised to tour the various schools, to train participating students in a Communication Plus Program (CPP), the rules of the debate, what they need to know, areas that will be focused on and many other things.

At the launch, the organizers surprised the school’s present with a mock debate, grouping pupils into two, group one consisted of Achimota School, Pope John, Adisadel College, Legon Presec, Achimota School , and Adisadel College where for group two.

Both groups had less than 10minutes to prepare for the topic; “Is investigative journalism the way to fight corruption in Ghana”?. Group one was for the motion while group two was against the motion. The two groups submitted their valid points in order to carry the day which was well received by the audience.

The debate ended without a winner, however the mock debate gave the judges an opportunity to educate each group on their short falls, and also acknowledge the students on their willingness to take up issues of national interest and debate within a short period of time.
