National Security to investigate NDC National Organiser

The National Security Coordinator, Lt. Col. Larry Gbevlo Lartey says an investigation will be conducted into claims by the National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress that party loyalists will be enlisted into the National Security and the Special Forces.

A leaked tape has implicated Yaw Boateng Gyan, who is heard promising to help recruit party foot soldiers to join the country’s security agencies to help the party’s agenda in the elections.

Boateng-Gyan promised to ensure party foot soldiers are specifically recruited into the Special Forces and the National Security according to the tape.

“The other time we were talking about this Special Forces, we haven’t abandoned it. If you are there it does not mean you cannot still work for us” Yaw Boateng Gyan said.

“We will send you there, you will be trained and come back and will be working. When the need arises, we will call you, whatever duties will be assigned then you’d come back and be working for the party”.

He added that “those who are following the President now, they were at the party headquarters, they were soldiers but they were at the party headquarters. You ask Kofi Yeboah, he was serving as a guard at the party headquarters so you could be there and later come and serve.”

Mr. Boateng-Gyan has however admitted the voice on the leaked tape is his, but said the NDC has no intentions of causing mayhem in this year’s election.

Speaking in an interview with XYZ News, Lt. Col Gbevlo Lartey said the National Security is not bothered by the comments because people are not just recruited into the Security Service.

According to him, the National security has enough competent men and do not need the help of party officials.

He described Mr. Boateng Gyan’s comment as mere talk stating that people with lack of military training cannot be recruited into the Special Forces.

Col. Gbevlo Lartey told XYZ News that “once this has come up we will go into it and investigate it so that the necessary action is taken”.
