National Service is a learning process - Director

Koforidua, Jan. 15, GNA - Mr Fritz Plange, Municipal Director of New Juaben Municipality of the National Service Scheme (NSS), on Friday reminde= d service personnel that the national service exercise was an opportunity to learn new things at their respective postings. "Do not just stay idling where you have been posted and then come fo= r your allowances at the end of the month; rather learn something and do something, for National Service is a learning process," he said. Mr Fritz was speaking at the Secretariat's first meeting with the 2010/2011 batch of National Service Personnel in Koforidua. He told the service persons that apart from the Clearance Forms and th= e Attendance Books, which were used to monitor them, the Secretariat was also going to embark on several unannounced visits to work places to monitor them. Mr Kwaku Acheampong, Asuogyaman District Director of the NSS, admonished service persons to try as much as possible to leave a good mark at where they had been posted to. He said; 93Do not just be a worker; be an achiever and leave a mark i= n your organization." Mr Acheampong urged them to accept postings to wherever they had been posted to and endeavour to exhibit humility at their work places. "Wherever you are, try to be very respectful and humble; for the key= to success is humility," he said. Mr Festus Obeng-Sefa, Regional Administrator for the NSS, advised service persons to be very circumspect about their income and spending habits and plan well for their future. Mr Michael Okyeame was elected President of the National Service Persons Association (NASPA) with Mr Kwame Adu Awuku as the Vice President.
