Nayiri pays visit to Nalerigu Secondary School

Nalerigu (N/R) Feb. 23, GNA - The Nayiri Naa Bohugu Mahami Sheriga Abudulai, Paramount Chief of Mamprugu Traditional Area has appealed to the government to fulfil the promises it made by upgrading the Nalerigu Senior Secondary School into a model school in the East Mamprusi District.

The Nayiri made the appeal when he paid his first visit to the school since he was enskinned last year.

Naa Abudulai said the school with a population of 1,450 was one of the three largest schools in the Northern Region and called on the Ministry of Education and Sports to facilitate the transformation of the school into a model school to raise the standard of education in the area.

He advised the students and staff to be serious with their academic work so that the school could "rob shoulders" with other good institutions in the country.

He told the students that as future leaders, they needed to acquire quality education to help them contribute meaningfully to the development of the nation.

The Nayiri, who is also the President of the Northern Regional House of Chiefs, warned them against casual sex, saying that HIV/AIDS had no known cure.

Mr. Nabla Sulemana, Headmaster of the school, mentioned the lack of accommodation for staff and students, as well as a decent dining hall as some of the problem facing the school.

He therefore, called on the Ghana Education Service as a matter of urgency, to come to the aid of the school.
