Ndebugre condemns elopment in Northern Ghana

Zebilla (U/E), Sept 29, GNA - Mr. John Ndebugre, the People's National Convention (PNC) Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bawku West Constituency, at the weekend said elopment of women for marriage being practiced in Northern Ghana was affecting the development of the people. He said the practice was obsolete and urged prospective husbands to go through the acceptable marital rites before allowing women to stay with them as partners. Mr. Ndebugre was reacting to the issue of elopment when it came up at the second ordinary session of the Bawku West District Assembly, at Zebilla in the Upper East Region. He called on members of the assembly to educate the public about the negative effects of such obnoxious traditional practices.
