Presidential candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, will today (Monday, 19th November, 2012) go to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) for his medical examination report.
The medical report follows a promise Dr. Nduom has made in this year’s electioneering campaign that he will disclose his health status before the 2012 general elections.
In an interview with the party’s Communications Director, Richmond Keelson, he confirmed and affirmed that Dr. Nduom will make the details of the report immediately available to the public.
“…After that [the disclosure of the medical report] our flag bearer will embark on a tour of the Greater Accra Region,” Mr. Keelson added.
Earlier this month, the PPP flag bearer underwent medical examination at KBTH.
The disclosure of his health status is among other promises that Dr. Nduom has said he will deliver before the December 7 polls.
The other promises that the PPP flag bearer has made include declaring his assets and tax clearance certificate and more importantly the source of funding of the PPP.
These steps, in the opinion of Dr. Nduom, are key for all the presidential candidates aspiring for the highest office of the land, in ensuring an incorruptible administration.
The examination began with the PPP standard bearer undergoing physicals at the hospital to check on his height, weight and Body Mass Index (BMI); he also had his sugar, cholesterol, Hepatitis B and prostrate checked.
The Head of the Public Health Unit who is also an Occupational Specialist, Dr. Philip Kwaku Amo, who received Dr. Nduom disclosed that the latter voluntarily requested that he should be tested for HIV and AIDS.
Head of Eye Department of KBTH, Dr. Ankorful, supervised the visual assessment of his eye pressure, as well as how far Dr. Nduom could see when he looks at objects.
After reading the Snerling’s chat from a distance of 6 metres with the aid of an Occluder, Dr. Nduom was transferred to the Visual Field Room where his vision was checked.
He subsequently went to the X-ray Department where an X-ray of him was taken.
Dr. Nduom after the examination addressed a press conference where he reiterated his call for his competitors, John Dramani Mahama of the NDC and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the NPP, and the other presidential candidates to do same to assure Ghanaians that they are in good health before ascending the seat.
He also promised that he would continually be ‘coming to Korle Bu for medical check-ups.’
