Lawyers for the Progressive People’s Party have submitted a cleaned version of the party’s presidential candidate’s nomination form to the Electoral Commission, Starr News’ Wilberforce Asare who is stationed at the EC headquarters has reported.

The edited version was submitted to the EC officials by lead lawyer for the party, Nii Ayikoi Otoo, Tuesday afternoon.

The revised form replaces the contentious Richard Aseda endorsement with two new subscribers for the two districts under contention on their nomination form.

An impasse between the party and the election management body ended up in the Supreme Court after the EC disqualified Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom and 11 other presidential candidates over errors that were detected in their nomination forms.

The Supreme Court however affirmed an earlier High Court ruling that ordered the commission to allow the candidates correct their errors and be admitted into the December race.

The apex court asked the EC to reopen the nomination period between Monday when the judgment was given, and Tuesday, to enable the parties correct their mistakes.

However, things have not been smooth for the parties in spite of the court directive. The commission has, in almost all the cases, told the parties that they have found more than the initial mistakes that accounted for their disqualification in the nomination form, a move that has been met with shock by the candidates.

In the case of the PPP, the commission says it has detected 105 news mistakes instead of the one that was earlier reported. The PNC’s mistakes have ballooned from 4 to 303, while APC is expected to respond to 93 errors instead of the known two.
