Netherlands support Ghana's water system

Sunyani (B/A), Aug. 12, GNA- The Netherlands Government has provided 300 million Euros as direct financial support for the water supply system in Ghana.

The government has also within the past five years granted 20 million Euros to support the health sector in the country. Mr Arie Van Der Wiel, Netherlands Ambassador in Ghana disclosed when he paid a courtesy call on Nana Kwadwo Seinti, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister in Sunyani on Thursday, during which the two officials discussed pertinent issues including good governance, capacity building and culture development in the two countries. Mr Wiel affirmed that the Netherlands government was committed to supporting the country in the health, environment and educational sectors.

He said the Dutch support for Ghana was "due to the human centred development policies and programmes of the government".

Nana Seinti commended the Ambassador for the visit and expressed the hope that the relationship between the two countries would be further strengthened by mutual collaboration in various areas of development.

Mr Wiel who was led by the Regional Minister, later visited the Regional Hospital, the Abesim water head works near Sunyani, which is the primary source of water supply in the region and the Centre for National Culture in Sunyani.
