New Dormaa DCE Meets Traders

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), Aug. 14, GNA - The new District Chief Executive for Dormaa, Squadron Leader (rtd) Benjamin Anane Asamoah has advised traders in the district to form co-operatives for the enhancement of their commercial ventures.

The DCE explained that dealers in similar commodities could belong to one group, thereby making their demands and operations consistent with all members at a time.

Squadron-Leader Asamoah gave the advice when he toured the Dormaa main market to familiarize and interact with the traders to know basic problems confronting them.

The tour, which took him to all segments of the market availed him the opportunity to know and interact with the leaders of yams, fish, vegetable, footwear and used clothes dealers. He advised them to make cleanliness their 'walking stick' and urged cooked-food sellers to endeavour to cover their wares at all times to avoid the spread of filth-related diseases.

The traders for their part appealed to the District Assembly to provide the market with enough sheds and urinals to save them the trauma of harbouring nature's call for unusual hours and running helter-skelter when it threatens to rain.

The traders expressed joy at the reduction in kerosene price and the minimal increase in petrol price and commended the Dormaa branches of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) and the Progressive Transport Owners Association (PROTOA) for impressing upon their members not to increase lorry fares in the district in the wake of the adjustments.
