New Head office for Drobo Community bank inaugurated

Drobo B/A, Dec.14, GNA - A 1.5 billion cedis head office building for the Drobo Community Bank at Drobo in the Jaman South district of the Brong-Ahafo region has been inaugurated. The two-storey-building, comprise of a conference hall, offices, storerooms, places of convenience, and other apartments.

Inaugurating the building, Mr. Emmanuel Asiedu-Mante, First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BOG), called on managements of community and rural banks to employ knowledgeable people with impeccable background to work in the banks to ensure efficient and effective operations. He said BOG had set up a consumer complaints unit at its banking supervision department where customer complaints and grievances were channelled for redress.

Mr Asiedu-Mante advised the public to direct complaints and unsatisfactory services rendered by banking institutions to the central bank for appropriate actions to be taken. Mr. T.K. Obeng, Board chairman of the bank, said the bank established in 1997, now had 7,800 customers and two trillion cedis in deposits. He said since 2003 the bank had established a scholarship scheme for secondary and tertiary students within its catchments area as part of its social service obligations. Mr Obeng said the bank's operations would soon be computerized.

Mr. Apraku Tanor, Jaman South District Chief Executive appealed to the management to strive to reduce the bank's interest rates. He called on the management to help promote proper sanitation through providing litterbins at vantage points within the locality. Beyeeman Bosea Gyinantwi IV, Paramount chief of Drobo Traditional Council, commended the Government for its commitment to reduce interest rates and inflation. He called on the board of directors and management to work hard to ensure its growth and development.
