Nana Adjei Boateng, Member of Parliament for New Juaben North constituency and Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, has presented 60 bags of rice and sugar to zongo communities towards the celebration of the Eid-ul-Fitr.
The items, to be shared among Muslims in the seven communities within the constituency including Suhyen, Jumapo, Oyoko, Akwadum, Effiduase, Asikasu and Asokorewas, was worth GHC 15, 000.
At a short ceremony to present the items, the MP said the items were to ensure that every member of the zongo community enjoyed the festivities after the Ramadan.
He used the opportunity to advise the community leaders to make the education of children and the youth a priority so that with skills and knowledge they would benefit from the policies of the NPP government.
He said the NPP government was interested in the development of the zongo communities across the country and urged them to take advantage of the several policies such as the free SHS and the latest free technical and vocational education policy to upgrade themselves.
