New Juaben female teachers support needy children

Koforidua, Oct. 9, GNA- The New Juaben Municipal branch of the women's wing of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT-LAS) on Thursday presented school uniforms, sandals, bags and other educational materials valued at 3.4 million cedis to 15 needy but brilliant pupils as part of the celebration of the Teachers Week.

Besides that, each of the pupils would enjoy a scholarship of 32,000 cedis, which covers a year's fees for basic schools. Nana Adjei Boateng, New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said within the last two years, the Assembly had provided financial and material support to 250 needy but brilliant children in the municipality.

He congratulated members of GNAT-LAS for their vision and urged them to make follow-ups to ensure that parents of the beneficiaries contribute to the welfare of their children.

The appealed to organised labour, to support the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), being introduced in the country. Mr Adumoah Simpson, Eastern Regional Secretary of GNAT, called on parents to ensure that their children study hard.
