The story so hot from the stove of the NPP is that there is a consensus to fine-tune several of the Party's structures to make it battle-ready and efficient, so it yields positive results through winning the polls in future elections.
At the heart of this reformation is the re-designing of a new computer system to register details of dedicated and paid-up members, who should have been in good standing by the close of 2007. THE SUN can confirm that beyond 2007, all bets for the infiltrating public could be fearfully off.
According to Mr. Collins Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko a leading member of the Party, the time-barrier will prevent otherwise smart rival Parties from smuggling wholesale, cantankerous elements to disturb the Party from within. He informed that the Party will also expand its Electoral College and at the same time, introduce the element of random picks so that no one candidate can buy off all 300 delegates from a Constituency.
'We are considering the fact that it should be possible to pick for example 30 delegates on random basis from a field of 500 or more, and further pick just about 3 or 5 at the final homestretch to do the vote to pick a leader,' he said.
Mr. Kyerementeng Agyarko revealed that this time around, to make the NPP tick on all cylinders emphasis would beon political mobilization rather than the old administrative-orientated system because, that is when the Party can gain increasing numbers.
The former Vice-president of the Bank of New York hinted that the old structures of 1st, 2nd vice chairman and other such positions could be parried into the dustbin and done away with altogether, in a bid to set the efficency wheel running so as to put the Party back to winning ways.
He touched on the Super Delegates issue and thought the Party ought to show some respect to leading elders such as Messrs R. R. Amponsah, Appiah-Menka, J.A. Addison and the rest of the old class to enable them have automatic voting rights, instead of fighting it out from the constituency level.
Mr. Kyeremateng Agyarko hinted that all these changes are to be subjected to a brainstorming session, where they would be thoroughly dissected and a final decision arrived at by the close of February.
He was of the conviction that when a creative-cross-fertilization of ideas have been conducted among Party members and a new system set in place, the old order of polling agents would have been abrogated so that selected officials would be assigned campaign targets to homes and every conceivable neek andcranny where humans abide.
Mr. Kyerementeng Agyarko revealed yet again that when all Tees and Jays have finally been crossed and dotted respectively, Polling Station Campaigns Teams will be managed by Electoral Area Managers.
'The urge to create a new ground offensive for impending electoral battles to de-emphasize the over-bearing nature of Constituency Executives is an issue the NPP needs to put in its pipe and smoke,' he stated.
Concluding, the leading member said the Party was 'only interested in doing what was positively prudent and right which is why if indeed area bombardment will not win the battle, then the other alternative of boot on the ground has to be considered.'
