President Akufo-Addo President Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo has said that the killings of 49 people in shootings at two mosques in New Zealand “is a stark reminder of the threat terrorism poses to all the peoples of the world”.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, 16 March 2019, Ghana’s President sympathised with the bereaved families and the government of New Zealand as he urged the world to unite and fight terrorism.

“We must stand up together against all atrocities that are motivated by a twisted understanding of religion or ideology,” Mr Akufo-Addo, noted.

Meanwhile, the prime suspect, Brenton Tarrant, 28, an Australian, has been remanded in custody by a court and will appear again on 5 April 2019.

Two other suspects have also been arrested by police in relation to the shooting incident.
