New bridge over River Oyoko commissioned

Gomboi (B/A), Dec. 16, GNA - The Reverend Father Otmar Auinger, Roman Catholic Priest at Kintampo has commissioned a GH¢65,000 bridge constructed over River Oyoko on the Kintampo-Gomboi-Dwere road at Mo, a settler farming community in the Kintampo North District. The construction of the bridge was funded by an Austrian student volunteer, Helmut Neubauer.

Rev. Fr. Auinger said he solicited for funds for the construction of the bridge because the beneficiary communities were cut off from Kintampo especially during the rainy season.

"Since the church is a stakeholder in the nation's development, it is very important that religious leaders contribute to the development of the communities as well as ensure the moral upliftment of members," he said.

Rev. Fr. Auinger thanked Mr. Stephen Kunsu, Member of Parliament for the area for providing GH¢ 2,400 and commended the youth in the area for their communal labour spirit towards the execution of the project.

Mr Kunsu expressed gratitude to the Roman Catholic Priest for helping to alleviate the plight of the people and called on Ghanaians to complement the efforts of philanthropists and other foreign donors. He appealed to drivers to be extra careful on the bride to avoid accidents.

Nana Kwabena Afere, Chief of Dwere, who presided, thanked the donor for the assistance and said the bridge would help the people to transport their farm produce to the marketing centres. 16 Dec. 08
