The Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima Mponua Constituency in the Ashanti Region, doubling as Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah has assured chiefs and residents in the area proceeds from the Nhyinani bauxite will be used to develop the area following concerns by the people.

"The government is now banking it economic hope on our bauxite so I can say that majority of the proceeds are going to benefit our people", the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at a town hall meeting revealed to the residents

According to the cabinet member of the Akufo-Addo's government, even before the prospecting of the bauxite begins, loans have been approved for contractors to start work on some roads in the district.

"Over seven thousand kilometers of our roads have received approval and work will start soon", Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah said when he visited Betinanko, Pakyi, Nyanwusu and Kutokum communities all in the district.

Earlier, the youth have complained of poor road networks and economic hardship they are facing putting the blame on the doorstep of the government and attributing it to the ban of illegal mining across the country.

But the Youth and Sports Minister assured government will soon provide solutions to their challenges as plans are underway to lift the ban on the small-scale mining activities popular known as galamsey.

"We already know as a government the hardship facing you but don't use that as an excuse and go back do the galamsey. I don't want to hear or see you being chased away by police and military because of galamsey", Hon. Kwame Asiamah advised.
