Accra, April 3, GNA - Nigeria Shippers' Council has extended an invitation to the Chief Justice, Mrs Georgina Theodora Wood, to take part in its 10th National Conference slated for June 24-26. The invitation would also afford the judiciaries of Ghana and Nigeria the opportunity to learn about each other's best practices. This was announced when Alhaji Hassan Bello, Director, Legal Department, Nigeria Shippers' Council, in the company of officials of Ghana's Shippers' Council called on the Chief Justice at her office in Accra.
Mrs Justice Wood said this was the first time a sister African country was inviting her to take part in their national programme. She said she was happy that the occasion would afford them the opportunity to interact with Nigeria's superior court judges and explore areas of co-operation.
"We will use the opportunity to visit Nigeria's Supreme Court to see how things work," she added. Mrs Justice Wood said lack of court rooms and judges were some of the challenges of the Judiciary, adding that she was happy that 25 more High Court judges had been sworn into office. She said two of the judges would be posted to Tema. Alhaji Bello said during the Conference it would present awards to members who had contributed to the Council and the maritime laws.
