Nii Lante Bannerman has emerged victorious at the closely fought contest of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries at the Odododiodio constituency in the Greater Accra Region.
At the close of polls, the election which was organized by the Electoral Commission (EC) saw Nii Lante Bannerman securing 356 votes, Reginald Okaidjah Bonte 333 and Ahmed Nii Annan Tackie, 105.
In all, 794 out of 847 delegates drawn from 160 polling stations took part in the election.
After announcing the results by the EC, the defeated candidates took turn to congratulate the winner, promising to support him to win the seat for the party.
Mr Bannerman thanked the delegates for having faith in him, by electing him as their parliamentary candidate for the 2016 elections.
He said Ghanaians are yearning for the NPP to return to power and he would work hard to ensure that victory.
He said the incumbent Member of Parliament has failed the people of the constituency and the constituents are yearning for the return of the NPP.
He has therefore urged the delegates and other members of the party to unite and work hard for a resounding victory in 2016.
Mr Seth Raymond Tettey, the Odododiodio constituency chairman of NPP, commended Mr Bannerman for his victory, saying that the party executives are ready to work with him and ensure victory for the party.
"Our intention is to win the presidential and parliamentary elections in the 2016 elections and I will call on the losing candidates including other party members to rally behind the party for the victory", he said.
