Ningo-Prampram observes My First Day At School

A team of Directors of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has visited basic schools in Ningo-Prampram, as part of the observation of this year's ''My First Day At School.''

Madam Margaret Okai, Deputy Director in charge of Basic Education, and leader of the team, appealed to parents and society to support the education of children, whom she described as, ''tomorrow's teachers, doctors, nurses and lawyers.''

She pointed out that no society could develop without education, and urged parents to take the education of their wards seriously.

Mrs Seraphine Mosore, Ningo-Prampram District Director of Education, expressed gratitude to the chiefs and elders in the area, for their support over the years as their district director.

She urged parents to take advantage of the favourable conditions created by government in the area by sending their children to school.

''Government and the District Assembly have done well by building schools in almost every part of this district. It is now incumbent on us as parents to take advantage of this to send our wards to school.''

''My first day at school'' is an annual event organized by the GES at the beginning of a new academic year, to officially introduce kids who have entered school for the first time in their lives, especially at the kindergarten and primary one levels.
