Nkawie Sec/Tech students undertake clean-up

Nkawie (Ash), March 13, GNA - As part of activities marking the maiden speech and prize-giving day of the Nkawie Secondary/Technical School, students of the school on Monday undertook a three-hour clean-up exercise at Nkawie. Led by their teachers, the students desilted choked gutters, swept and scrubbed the Nkawie-Toase Government Hospital, swept the principal streets of Nkawie as well as the chief's palace.

Addressing them after the exercise, Mr Prince Aguri-Amanfo, headmaster of the school commended the students for their active participation and comportment during the exercise. He said as a community-based school, there was the need to do something to benefit the community. Mr Aguri-Amanfo said cleanliness was very necessary to fight diseases like malaria, diarrhoea and cholera in the society. Mr Eric Armah Brempong, chairman of the anniversary publicity committee, said highlights of the celebration include blood donation, sporting and other entertainment activities, a float from Pampaso in Kumasi to Nkawie and the inauguration of the school's cadet corps.
