Nkoranza Assembly to the aid of BECE candidates

Fiema (B/A), March 26, GNA - Nkoranza District Assembly has donated GHC 3,000 to the district education directorate to organize a mock examination for final year students in junior high schools to prepare them for the Basic Education Certificate Examination. Mr. Kwabena Agyeman-Badu, District Director of Education, said this when addressing students and staff of Anglican Junior High School at Fiema in Nkoranza North District.

He said the schools would also contribute out of the capitation grants to supplement the assembly's support for the preparation of test instruments for the mock examination.

He said the Ghana Education Service had provided the district directorate with a resograph machine for printing the test questions whilst a team of seasoned examiners would prepare the questions for the examination.

Mr. Agyeman-Badu expressed regret about the performance of students of the school in last year's BECE as only 12 out of its 32 candidates passed and urged the teachers to redouble efforts to help this year's candidates to improve the performance.

Mr. Agyeman-Badu paid special tribute to the District Chief Executive, Mr. James Kwabena Appiah-Awuah, for showing concern for the plight of the students by mobilizing the assembly to provide the funds for the mock examination.

Mr. Kwaku Baffoe, headmaster of the school, said about 45 candidates would write the BECE.
