Nkoranza DDE inaugurates 400-million-cedi school block at bonte

Bonte (B/A), Nov. 5, GNA - A 400-million-cedi six-classroom-block with an office and store constructed by the residents of Bonte in the Nkoranza District of Brong-Ahafo, has been inaugurated by the District Director of Education, Mr Kwabena Agyemang-Badu. Mr Agyemang-Badu commended the people for their self-help spirit by instituting the school project themselves, in a bid to promote education of the younger generation in the area. He urged the school management committee as well as the Parent-Teacher- Association (PTA) executives of the area to ensure to provide decent accommodation facilities for teachers that would be posted to the area, so as to sustain their interests to stay and serve the schools willingly.

Mr Agyemang-Badu, also advised them to encourage all parents in the area to take advantage of the Government capitation into the schools and enrol their wards to promote growth and to move the community forward. The District Director of Education stressed the need for the opinion leaders of the community to visit the school regularly to interact with the teachers and to know the challenges that face the school in order that they would address them.

Mr Agyemang-Badu called on teachers in the district to redouble their efforts to help improve upon the fallen standard of education in the area.

Mr Samuel Yaw Adjei Agama, Unit Committee Chairman of the area announced that the people raised special levies individually and also organised fund-raising rallies before they could mobilize resources to fund the project.

Mr Agama therefore, praised the people for their unity and co-operative spirit towards the development of the area and stressed that they should maintain such spirit and the community would also grow. He was grateful to the Nkoranza District Assembly and the Member of Parliament of the area, Mr Eric Amoateng for providing the community with some bags of cement and roofing sheets to complement their efforts. Nana Krobea Asante Sarpong, Chief of the area gave the assurance that, the community leaders would ensure that teachers posted to serve the school enjoyed the necessary peace, comfort and security to enable them help in promoting the standard of education of pupils in the school.
