Nkoranza Municipality gets more than 3,500 new voters

About 3,551 eligible voters in the Nkoranza Municipality in Brong Ahafo Region registered with the Electoral Commission during the just-ended Limited Revision Voters Registration Exercise.

They comprise of 2,023 men and 1,528 women. They were registered at 29 registration centres.

Mr Ekow Essien, Nkoranza Municipal Electoral Officer, speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkoranza, said 174 Registration Officials participated in the exercise.

He expressed appreciation with the manner in which representatives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) comported themselves during the exercise, saying, no violent incident was recorded during the 10-day period.

However, Mr Moses Adu-Danso, Nkoranza Municipal Electoral Registration Supervisor, said 28 challenge forms were filled, and they were based on allegations that some of the registrants were minors.

He said the Municipal Electoral Review Committee had commenced investigations into the allegations but 15 of the alleged minors had failed to appear before the Committee.

Out of the 13 who appeared, seven were found eligible to register, while the other six were disqualified.
